This page is intended to help Ubahr SMS users get started with the program and familiarize themselves with the interface.
Ubahr SMS works by sending and receiving data on a serial port to which a mobile device is connected. If you are using Bluetooth™ to connect to your device, you must setup a virtual serial port in the Bluetooth™ program. This will be the port on which Ubahr SMS will communicate. Consult your Bluetooth™ software documentation for information about setting up a virtual serial port.
Once you have configured your Bluetooth™ software, select the COM port to use in the "Port" box in Ubahr SMS (see image above). If you are unsure which port your mobile phone is connected on, press the "Test Port" button to have Ubahr SMS check what kind of device is connected on the specified port. If the connected device recognizes the commands that are being sent by Ubahr SMS, it will respond with the name of its manufacturer, e.g. "SONY ERICSSON". Ubahr SMS should now be ready for use.
If, on the other hand, the testing times out, it is probably because of one of the following reasons:
If you're not using your mobile phone's phonebook to send messages, you can enter numbers manually.
Ubahr SMS isn't limited to sending to a single phone, however. It can send to multiple recipients. If you want to send your message to multiple people, enter their numbers separated by semicolons (semicolons followed by spaces are fine too). For example, you could enter "2; 3; 4; 5" to send your message to all those (fictional) numbers.
If you have downloaded your phone book to Ubahr SMS, you are not limited to entering just numbers, you can also enter names of contacts (numbers and names can, of course, be mixed). The entered name must match the name in the phonebook exactly, but it isn't case sensitive. For example, entering "johan" would send to "Johan" if it is entered as such in the phonebook, but "johan k" wouldn't. See image below for an example (in which the message would be sent to Johan and the number 2).
